Lavant Reserves were forced into making six chances from the previous weeks team selection, but this did not appear to hinder them, as they continued their good start to the season with a resounding home win.

In blistering sunshine the game started at a quick pace with both sides having early chances to open the scoring.  Lavant did however break the deadlock when Jimmy Hird charged down the left flank, cut into the box and drilled his shot past the keeper, 1-0.  Minutes later Lavant were two nil up when Dave Kent’s beautifully lofted corner kick flew over the stranded keeper and into the top corner of the goal, 2-0.

Fernhurst still suffering from the shock of being 2-0 down, regrouped and made a concerted attempt to get back into the game, but with Lavant keeper Mike Kent in excellent form all their efforts came to nothing.  Lavant again started to pressure the visitors goal and Scot Yaxley breaking clear on the right flank let fly a fierce goal bound short just outside the box, which the keeper somehow managed to get a hand to, but the defected ball fell kindly to Carl Drinkwater who made not mistake at close range, 3-0.

Lavant were now totally in control of the game and at times were playing some good football and so it was no surprise when they further extended their lead when Parker made it 4-0 just before half time.

The second half saw Fernhurst switch to all out attack in an effort to get back into the game and Lavant chose to sit back and soak up the pressure rather than take the game to the visitors, but yet again Kent in the Lavant goal pulled off a number of saves to maintain the score.  With 15 minutes remaining Giles Weller when on a meandering run for Lavant breaking into the visitors box, skipping through a late challenge and crossing the ball to the waiting sub Matt Gliaubertas to side foot it into the goal, ensuring Lavant further extended their lead and sealing an impressive home win.
